In 2015, writer/director Neill Blomkamp announced plans to make an official fifth Alien movie, based on ideas and artwork that he had developed himself. The film would follow Aliens - Scontro finale (1986), thereby ignoring AlienĂ‚Â³ (1992) and Alien - La clonazione (1997). The film was officially to be produced by Ridley Scott alongside Alien: Covenant, with Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn slated to reprise their roles as Ripley and Hicks. However, Blomkamp was then asked to delay his Alien project until Alien: Covenant was released. Scott later claimed that the studio had canceled the project altogether, which had reportedly never developed beyond a 10-page story treatment. Although Blomkamp stated that the project was officially dead and he had moved to other projects, Aliens director James Cameron said that he loved Blomkamp's concept, hoping to work with him on it in the future.
