At the beginning when Sulley and Mike are walking to work, Mike says, "You've been jealous of my good looks since the 4th grade...", but the prequel Monsters University (2013) tells us Sulley and Mike did not actually meet until college. When asked about the inconsistency, director John Lasseter explains, "We joke that that's just an old monster expression".
