The Raid - Redenzione
Gareth Evans said "When I was writing The Raid I was watching films for research, but none of them were martial arts films as I knew them so well. Instead they were all thriller, suspense, horror. [Rec] and the sequel were real influences on the me for this. I realised that if I took away the martial arts and the action, I was left with a concept that lent itself to survival horror more than anything else. I could go anywhere with this film and didn't have to follow any martial arts templates. We could have a fight scene then follow it up with horror-style tension." The Raid is out now.
