Dolphin Hotel manager Gerald Olin tells writer Mike Enslin that he could, "...take photographs in 1404, it has the exact same layout [as 1408]..."
The evacuation plan on the back of the hotel room's door shows that the layout of 1404 is nothing like 1408. Additionally, the plan shows that Enslin's walk from the elevators to his room is full of errors, in both the signage (the number of rooms on that half of the building should not go as high as 1430) and position of rooms along his path (he makes too many right-angle turns and there is no elevator just outside 1408).
