Galápagos (emphasis on 2nd syllable) is consistently mispronounced as ga-la-PAY-gos (emphasis on 3rd syllable, and vowel sound wrong). This may, of course, have been a contemporary pronunciation for Brits, even though - then as now - wrong in Spanish.
