Contrary to what is portrayed in the film, Marilyn's last days were actually very good ones for her. She had been rehired by Fox at double her original salary to finish Something's Got to Give and already had several film projects lined up for her, including a biopic of Jean Harlow. Additionally, she is shown on the night she passed as being distraught over her relationships with the Kennedy brothers. The film suggests this is what led her to overdose. However, it should be noted that the extent of her relationships with both Kennedy brothers has been questioned and debated over the years. Contrary to the frantic state the film portrays Marilyn in, according to those with her that day, she was described as happy, calm, and the day was rather uneventful.
