When Driver is obtaining his Chevrolet Impala for the heist, he is told that the stock engine has been swapped for one with over 300 horsepower. In reality, that generation Impala (ninth generation) already had an available engine with over 300 horsepower. The Impala SS came with the 5.3 L LS4 V8 engine producing 303 horsepower. The SuperSport (SS) model was likely avoided because the trim package and other extras were not as common than other ninth generation Impalas and might make the car more distinguishable to police.He specifically wanted a plain Jane car.
