Before the World Series, Kit was traded (not sold) to the Racine Belles. That means the Rockford Peaches should have received a player of comparable value in return, but we never see the new player. There's only 16 women per team, so the new player should have been apparent immediately. It's likely the film makers just chose not to introduce a new character this late into the movie to keep things simple.
