In the opening scenes, up to the first tornado, Bill's Dodge has a matching red cap on the bed. After Jo's Jeep is totaled, the cap is taken off to secure Dorothy II. The cap is not seen in the back of any other vehicle, which means it was either discarded on the side of the road or poorly written out of the script.
