Although people were not as attached to their cell phones when this movie came out as they would later become, it is unlikely that Meg would not immediately think of her cell phone when she realized the panic room's phone was disconnected. The cameras allowed her to see that the three intruders were in the lowest level for quite a while after she and Sarah first locked themselves in, and this would have been a great time to search for the phone--which she tried to do later in the movie.
