When Marty is preparing to go back to the future from the 50's, Doc tells him he has 7 minutes and 22 seconds before he has to take off from the white line drawn down the street. He then winds a simple bedside alarm clock and places it in the car. Wind up analog alarm clocks do not track seconds and the alarms cannot be set with that level of precision.
