The space station is described as having a titanium hull with steel bracing. This would therefore mean that the magnetic shoes described as necessary for walking around it would be useless (due to the low ferrous quality of Titanium) and in fact only be of any use on the brackets holding the hull together. Therefore magnetic shoes would be useless for walking round the space station except the few spots where the hull and bracing cross over.
