Magneto is controlling all the metal around him, yet the X-men are able to fly in with the plane. Magneto should have destroyed the plane, because it's made of metal. However, since Magneto's power is based on magnetism, it only affects magnetic metals like iron, nickel or chromium. A plane made exclusively of non-magnetic metal like aluminum or magnesium (like most modern military aircraft) would not be affected by his power.
