When Poirot is questioning the Count and Countess Andrenyi, he looks at her Hungarian Passport. It is issued by the Kingdom of Hungary and on the inside above the Countess's name it says "Au nom de Sa Majesté François Joseph I·er". In 1934, Hungary was indeed a (nominal) monarchy but King of Hungary and Austrian Emperor Franz Josef died in 1916.
