In the movie, Nick Detillo, Vince Hardy and Penderman all hold the rank of Captain in the Pittsburgh PD with Captain's Bars on their uniforms. However, Pittsburgh PD does not have that rank, after Lieutenant the next rank is Commander and use the gold oak leaf insignia.
