During the fire Grissom is depicted as shouting with a high pitched, panicked, voice. As can be heard in the actual recordings, he was using an emphatic voice. Also, while it is inferred that Chaffee saw the sparks, this was actually out of sight and behind a panel. From the astronauts' perspective the fire was virtually instantaneous.
