The story takes place when the Sistine Chapel is freshly painted, but the film shows it in dull colors and covered with dirt accumulated over centuries, just as it was during filming in 1964. Today, after the restoration, the cleaned, more vivid and bright colors of the paintings can be seen as they were 500 years ago.
