An explosion in the vacuum of space (even a nuclear device) would not produce a significant pressure wave. It would expel pieces of itself in an expanding sphere. The Messiah spacecraft wouldn't be tossed about in such a filmmakers' idea of what an explosion "should" look like. It might have been punctured by pieces of the debris but not bashed about like a car crash.
