Juergen takes the cyanide out of a paper package, kept in a coffee container. Over time, and it had to be years he kept it, potassium cyanide reacts with CO2 and moisture in the air to become harmless potassium carbonate. It has to be kept in sealed, water and gas tight containers, like glass capsules etc. to avoid this.
