Bone texts Sly, who is dead, giving the number of his motel room. White Bull's gang read the text and go to the room and shoot him. This sequence is very contrived. There is no reason for Bone to give Sly his room number, as he is only boasting about his sexual exploits. There is no way White Bull's gang could know Bone was a member of Viking's gang. They seem to arrive there right away, just as he has stripped naked and is preparing to confront a motel maid.
