As the crew leaves the bank, Michael pulls the pins on two distraction devices (flash-bang grenades) and places them on the door handles; however, the safety levers (aka "spoons") are still on the grenades. As the crew gets in the van, there is an explosion in the bank, implying that the grenades have gone off. First, flash-bangs are mostly light and sound; they would not explode in flames and blow out windows. Second, that's not how grenades work: You pull the pin and the safety lever flies off as the primer strikes the fuse; fuse time varies but is generally under five seconds.
