At the end of the film, Dr. Sovac had to shoot Prof. Kingsley/Red Cannon, who was in the process of strangling Sovac's daughter Jean, saving her life. Certainly she would have testified on her father's behalf. Moreover, Kingsley's transformation to the violent Red Cannon was witnessed by his students. Under the circumstances, there is no way Dr. Sovac would have been condemned to the electric chair for murder.
