In an early scene, Guy's father calls to tell him that the store's lights are still on. The fact is that the lights would not have been on in the first place. In the opening credits, it shows his father leaving for the day and Guy locking the door and it is clearly still light out. Plus according to the store's door, the store closes at 5:30pm M=F and 4:00pm on Saturday and since the film takes place during the summer of 1964, sunset would not occur until after 8:00pm.
