Some of the children's behavior is completely unrealistic given the situation they're in. Although some might argue that Beau might not have understood the gravity of the situation, Regan should certainly know better than to ignore her parents' instructions and give Beau the rocket. Furthermore, later on she also puts her own and Marcus's life in jeopardy when she wants to leave the silo's roof simply because she felt unappreciated by her father.
