Part of the backstory for Harry (Gene Hackman) is that he was a former Pro Bowl-level player (1963) for the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders were an AFL franchise at that time, and the AFL did not have a Pro Bowl. The Pro Bowl is an NFL all-star game. The AFL called their game simply the AFL All-Star Game, and in 1963 the West did not lose 21-17 as Harry says in the movie. The West won the game, 27-24.Also, Harry says that when JFK was shot he was on his way to San Diego to play a football game. But that week in 1963 the Raiders were scheduled to play the Houston Oilers in Oakland, not the Chargers on the road. (That week's games in the AFL were re-scheduled for Dec. 22.)
