The "wind" that blows off hats and causes clothing to flap when they are on the deck of the ship in the harbor during the foretold atomic blast would actually have been an overpressure wave generated by the bomb's detonation. The characters shown on the ship would have thrown backwards dozens of feet or simply splattered well before the ship overturned.
