The food, and the fresh cut fruit that Jim and Aurora eats in the dining hall is over 30 years old. And if they would have traveled all the way, the food in the machines would be 120 years old.
There may be something like a "replicator", as used in the Star Trek franchise, to make any type of food desired. The use of this technology may come as a higher cost of resources and is only available to "gold level passengers".
