Old Bill wears the rank of Chief Superintendent, which is a very senior rank, equivalent to army Colonel. It is way too senior for a small county town. At best, a police station in a town the size of Red Hill would have a Sergeant or Senior Sergeant in charge, and supervised by an Inspector overseeing the area from a larger town.
