In the hit Latin American hit scene in the beginning of the film, during the shootout, noted as taking place in 1980, De Niro is shown firing an M-4. This weapon was not developed at that time. The were other M-16 platform carbine platforms at the time, but this one is distinguishable because of it's M-203 grenade launcher bracket notch in the barrel. A later weapon.
