The boring tool on the front of the cyclotram is not large enough to make a hole of a diameter that would fit the cyclotram. Also, modern drilling bits for drilling though rock and other minerals can wear out in a few hundred feet of drilling, depending on the material. Modern drills often use 40,000 pounds to 90,000 pounds of force to drill holes up to 15 inches in diameter. To drill a hole 10 feet or more in diameter, with the speed they are going, would take hundreds of pounds of force, or be drilling in very soft dirt. Yet this drill has lasted for several thousand miles without replacement. Even allowing for the many passages they have found, the drill would have worn to the point of being completely ineffective at drilling any tunnels.
