The picture that John's foster mom gives the T-1000 of John to identify him is of a very young (Edward Furlong). This can be seen for example when the T-1000 asks the two girls if they have seen John. Also, the T-1000 would not have been able to identify him in the arcade room this way since it is not a current photo.
