After Harper short circuits the motherboard on the gammasphere, Bruce pulls him out from within while Harper simultaneously puts on a gas mask. The shot cuts to the plastic bag filled with nanomeds emptying, implying that Harper was pumped full of them like Bruce. However, since the mask was separate from the dispersal machine, Harper couldn't have possibly inhaled them, and therefore, there's no reason for Bruce to need to jump in front of him to block the gamma rays.
