Grant contacts Ellie via sat-phone in the dark pre dawn of the island. A few hours later (post dawn) the group meets a US Navy/Marine Amphibian Assault Battalion on the beach. Unless that naval group had been less than 100 miles away when contacted, there is no way for them to be already in position off the island and have the AAV's deployed to the land. Amphibian Assault Groups are not kept sailing between deployments.
