Dick Hallorann (Scatman Crothers) is shown to possess "The Shining", a combination of telepathic and pre-cognitive abilities. However, he is somehow unable to foresee his own death at the hands of Jack when he arrives back at the Overlook.This is different to the book, where Dick is able to sense his potential death in the near future.
