In 1985, from the time Marty gets out of school to when he is at the mall with Doc (a roughly 12-hour period) he hears the "save the clock tower" lady, his mother and Doc all talk about things that happened in the very same week in 1955 (the lightning strike, George getting hit by the car, the dance, Doc inventing the flux capacitor). Sure, it can be just be an astonishing coincidence, but it stretches things beyond the point of story-telling competency.
