When Gwen is found dead under mysterious circumstances, Ted is allowed to perform her autopsy, even though he is the one who discovered her body and is therefore a possible murder suspect. In real life, Gwen's autopsy would have been performed by a pathologist who was not personally involved in the circumstances surrounding her death.
