When the USS Cassidy is beginning to leave Pearl Harbor, her stern anchor line has been cut, but her bow line is still connected to a surface anchoring platform. In a real situation, this line should have been cut to prevent possibly carrying away the surface anchoring platform and having it drag along the starboard side of the ship as she is moving at high speed to escape the harbor.
