When O'Brien and the others are armed with weapons from the dead National Guardsman they clearly only take the weapons and no spare magazines, yet O'Brien (& possibly some of the others) clearly fires off more than the 30 rounds in her rifle's magazine in the action from from picking it up to flying away in the helicopter.
