In Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, Springdale is said to have been without a child (other than John Doe) for 10 years, with the adults of the town suffering from an unidentified "mass psychosis". This movie takes place two years after Freddy's Dead, yet the town is fully populated with teenagers, children, and mentally stable (albeit paranoid) adults. (And before it's mentioned: the introduction to Freddy Vs. Jason establishes Freddy's Dead as canon.)
