During the movie, there are several views showing the seabed and the BOP stack. Some gas bubbles can be seen escaping from the ground. As the movie proceeds, the gas bubble release intensifies. This is impossible as the only path to surface from the reservoir is through the various casings and the drill pipe, and up the riser. For gas to escape at the seabed, there should have been more than one failed cement job or casing failure. The reservoir is self contained in impervious rock far below the seabed. No path outside of the well bore for gas to escape.
