Toward the end Mercedes shows Edmond the twine "ring" on her finger and says it has never left her finger since she put it on before Edmond was arrested. In the carriage scene when Edmond is leaving Albert's birthday party, Mercedes has a gold wedding band on the finger where the twine ring should be.
