When Max goes into the woods the first time to test his powers, he grabs the cord of a clock radio and is able to turn it on. However, later he wears rubber dish washing gloves when using his laptop to protect it from his powers. While he is shown being able to affect electric items directly without touching them, the rubber casing of the clock radio's cord should have insulated it from his touch.
