Near end of film, Kerwin positions himself in the grove between the motel room and the beach, leaning into the split of a tree to steady his aim. When Douglas the stockbroker who is holding Benson hostage spins around and shoots Kerwin, Kerwin collapses at the base of the tree. Yet seconds later when Benson arrives at his side, Kerwin is stretched out on the beach yards away from any trees.
