During various chase scenes Frank is shown "shifting" cars that have automatic transmissions. If "manual shifting" was selected, (for use with paddle shifting), the gearshift would not have to be engaged with every shift. It is selected once (and then returns to the neutral position), and the driver can they use the steering wheel mounted paddles. In addition, several times he pulls the drive mode back (reverse on an Audi), when the car is still moving forward.
