When the Algerian Detective Peter Illing questions the Jeweller Meinhart Maur about the man selling diamonds, the jeweller states the man was over six feet. The detective says that means he was five feet ten. At the time the film was made, Algeria was under French rule and the man's height should have been stated under the metric system and not in English units.
