The lever action rifle that the girl and her mother used that was referred to repeatedly as being .22 caliber is actually a large caliber rifle and not a .22. Lever action .22 caliber rifles do not load through a side loading gate, are much smaller than the rifle in question and simply looking at the large bore at the end of the barrel makes it clear that it's a large caliber rifle.
