Irene Hervey tells Robert Young and Allan Jones the newborn horse is a "she". Then she refers to it as a "colt". A colt is a young male horse. She should have said "filly", if the horse was indeed female. The horse is also way to big, clean and dry, and stable on its legs to have just been born.
