However, Josh Baskins was 12 /13 years old in 1987, making his date of birth 1974, two years after the 1972 halt of smallpox vaccines administered in the United States.
A person born after 1972 who lacks a smallpox scar, wouldn't simply acquire one as they aged.
Because Tom Hanks was born in 1956, he'd understandably have a small pox vaccination scar.
