When Melanie pulls up to the Brenners' dock and leaves again after dropping off the lovebirds, there is no other boat visible at the dock. However, when Mitch comes out with his binoculars, a shot of the dock reveals a small boat tied to it. That boat was not there when Melanie arrived at the dock only minutes before.
