Marilyn is shown having a psychotic breakdown in her apartment after Dr. Kris suggests she take a rest at a hospital. In reality Marilyn voluntarily agreed to go to the hospital and only became psychotic once she was there and had discovered that Kris had tricked her by having her remanded to what turned out yo be the Payne Whitney Psychiatric Hospital in Manhattan.
